With Halloween approaching, many children, families and young people will be out enjoying trick-or-treating and local events across our communities. We want everyone to have a safe, enjoyable evening and would like to offer a few simple safety and crime prevention reminders. ๐ Home Security- Ensure doors and windows are secured when leaving home.
- Keep valuables out of sight from windows.
- Consider leaving external lighting on during the evening.
- Secure decorations that could be easily removed or damaged.
๐ Road Safety- Expect increased pedestrian activity, particularly children crossing roads unexpectedly.
- Drive carefully through residential areas and reduce your speed where appropriate.
- Remain vigilant around parked vehicles, junctions and estates where visibility may be reduced.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ Trick-or-Treating- Children should remain in groups and stay within familiar, well-lit areas.
- Younger children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Please respect residents who have chosen not to participate in Halloween activities.
๐ Anti-Social BehaviourWhile the vast majority of Halloween celebrations are good natured, we recognise that some residents may experience anti-social behaviour, such as nuisance knocking, egg throwing, damage to property, intimidation or disorderly behaviour. We encourage residents to report anti-social behaviour so that we can build an accurate picture of any emerging issues and direct patrols where they are most needed. ๐ 999 if a crime is in progress, someone is at immediate risk, or there is an immediate threat to public safety. ๐ 101 for non-emergency incidents, including anti-social behaviour that does not require an urgent police response. ๐ป Report online at: www.staffordshire.police.uk/report The information you provide, no matter how minor it may seem, can help identify repeat offenders, support enforcement action and prevent further incidents within the community. ๐ ReassuranceNeighbourhood policing teams will continue to patrol local communities and respond proportionately to any issues reported throughout the evening. Thank you for helping us keep our neighbourhoods safe and enjoyable for everyone.
